THREE FOLDING STATES

Las piezas son el resultado de la reflexión sobre la polaridad de estado en la materia. Ena vez que un papel se pliega, no se puede regresar al estado extendido inicial sin dejar registro del doblez. El plegado es o no es, por lo que el papel se puede describir en el tiempo presente como "plegado" o en el tiempo pasado como "extendido".
La búsqueda de un tercer estado de plegado me llevó a considerar el papel en un tiempo potencial, en donde el papel tuviera la posibilidad de ser, en un mismo momento, lo que es y lo que podría ser. Cada díptico está compuesto por tres papeles idénticos: uno extendido, uno plegado y uno potencialmente plegado. La primera pieza es lo que es y lo que fue. La segunda pieza es lo que es y lo que podría ser. 

The project explores the effect of folding on the properties of matter. When a piece of paper is folded, it cannot be returned to its original state without showing evidence of the fold. It's either folded or it's not, so you can describe the paper in the present tense as "folded" or in the past tense as "extended."
The search for a third state of folding led me to consider a time when paper could simultaneously exist in its current state and its potential future state.
Each diptych consists of three identical papers: one in its original extended state, one that is folded, and one that has the potential to be folded. The first piece represents what the paper is and was. The second piece represents what the paper is and could be.
