900 TERRITORIES - MASS
2020
900 TERRITORIES - MASS is a project involving drawing, painting, and sculpture that began in 2020. It focuses on the concept of territorial occupation, exploring how it can be replicated and understood through repetition. The project consists of small-scale drawings that experiment with different ways of occupying space based on a set of rules. Each drawing contains 900 shapes, which function as a graphic alphabet, aiming to mimic the process of learning a language within defined constraints.
The project aims to revisit the fundamental principles of drawing and its relationship with space. It draws inspiration from the exercises used by children to learn languages through repetition, exploring patterns and languages that bridge the gap between written and drawn forms. The work is influenced by the artistic styles of Mirtha Dermisache, Hanne Darboven, and Sol Lewitt.
